The Label of Love

When a woman has a child
She is called a Mother
It is a label of love

But when a child dies
The woman is a Mother
Of a child who has died
There is no label

I don’t want the label
Of a Mother whose child has died

But if labels must be handed out…
I want the label of a mother

The other label, the one that doesn’t exist
is too hard, too sad and absolutely terrible

I don’t want the label
Of a Mother whose child has died

Just as well there is no label

Receive

My home is
Built on a hill
The view is like
A living picture

My home
Built on a hill gives me
A view of my neighbourhood
A living reminder of community

My home
Built on a hill gives me
A view of what is beyond
A living reminder of opportunity

My home
Built on a hill gives me
A view of what is
A living reminder to open my hands
To receive

Tomorrow

Tomorrow when things calm down
I will get my act together
Tomorrow when things get back to normal
I will find my purpose
Tomorrow when my sadness lifts
I will find authentic pleasures

But tomorrow is not promised

So today I will get my act together
And tidy the cupboard
Today I will find my purpose
And connect with those I love
Today I will find pleasure
In a cup of tea

Not today!

Kindness and love are the answer
But not today

Gentleness and calmness are the answer
But not right now

Serenity and peace are the answer
But not in this moment

In this moment
Anxiety and edginess are the answer
In this moment I am messy and disorientated

Just for today
Right now
In this moment
I am bewildered
